thanks Law... I am using XP home on this system, but it wont be on this system. I may be able to get winserver 03, but not sure.

The General: that link is exactly what i'm trying to avoid....

Windows 2003 would be good.

Since you said your on dial up, that would be tough on the users downloading big files. :beard:

Well couldn't you use a computer that has two lan jacks kinda like a big *** router/hub or w/e ya wanna call it??

Use one machine on the phone line, have it set as the computer that other computers connect to directly and can go to the net, then have a hub/switch and have other machines hooked into it with networking cable and yea... get the idea?

Sorry, forgot about the benefits of having the FTP server in your room. Plop the files on the server and go, no having to wait while uploading it. :)

Do you have any spare computer parts you could put together and use? Because this is a job better suited for Linux, really.

Yes... i have a spare computer sitting right by my normal pc. The only problem i'm having now is a way for it to connect to the internet.

Linux: no support for phoneline network adapters
Windows: i'm not gonna pay that kinda money for this OS again
