Sound Wont Work!!!!

I just reinstalled windows XP professional, and my sound wont work now, motherboard sound or motherboard sound wont work, and i dont know why??? my real soundcard drivers wont work but my motherboard sound wont work either, when i install my real soundcard drivers, i get some error (its most likely the cd) but my real motherboard sound wont work either, anyone know what i might do to remedy this before i buy a new soundcard??

It says steamcii not found, that error comes up like 15 times at the end of installation, and my motherboard sound wont work at all.

Is the onboard sound disabled?
when you try to install?

and if it is, try enabling the onboard sound and installing the provided drivers if needed.(if you got any)

if not, go to your mobo's website and find some

It is enabled, and i downloaded new drivers from the website and the same error, maybe i have to reinstall windows xp?
