So im getting a server soon, and i cant seem to set up my router to allow people to Remotely access my computer. I have tried using the guide at portforwarding.com but to no avail. I have a buffalo airstation router. Any help would be great :).

Thanks in advance.

Tom.

You have to foward the port to the computer you wanna access

VNC uses 5900 by default, and rdp uses 3389.

Some routers call it port fowarding or virtual server.

It will look something like this

3389 192.168.x.x 3389 and tick the box to turn it on. :D

I think it would though wouldnt? How else would the request know where to go to? i.e. if you call up an RDP session and say connect to 66.78.66.24 which is the routers WAN ip address it would not return a result because that is just the ip address of the router..if you tell it 66.78.66.24:3389 the router handles the request, looks at its port foward scheme and says aghh yess this request should go to 192.168.0.10 or whatever...
