OK. I got VMPlayer installed and fired up notfred (I think). How do I know it is doing what it is supposed to be doing? I know it is chewing up my CPU cycles, but it gave me not options whatsoever when I fired up the image. I know I can use Fahmon to check it, but where do I point it? Also, is there a way to pause it (like if I wanted to game), or would I have to close it and lose my work (if it is working)?

Fill me in, peoples. :D

You can suspend the VM. VM->Power->Suspend.

Take a look at this http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=12042

5 - To access notfred use Internet Explorer or Firefox web browser and type fold-xxxx into the address bar (not the search box) press enter or go (look at your VM notfred for the host name) if that fails login via the IP address (look at VM for IP Address) you must do this on your Windows PC (the VMware Notfred is ready when it gets to login part in the VM box, do not try and login its not needed, its done via web browser settings)

OK... I killed it and started all over. The guide you posted is much better, patonb. it made sense, but I guess the screen shots helped the most. I was able to get the IP and get it set up to Fold for our team under my name. ;)

I guess since I am using old hardware I got this message, "interrupt too slow, forcing clock min delta to 76817320 ns" But it is still working, at least.

EDIT- I got Fahmon hooked up to it now. The location is the IP address plus "1/".

EDIT2- Fahmon says that my Notfred client is still showning notfred2630, team 2360 as the username/team on the WU.

It also has no progress in over four hours...

The name is a common first run thing, as it reads it from the log. I usually reboot the vm and that ensures it.

The usual fahmon address i used was a huge long thing \\%hostname%\c\etc\folding\1

Your setups not that crap, so 4hrs shoulds be 2 or 3 %.

What does fahmon say in the log window? f8 opens it?

It's working now. Over seven hours and almost at 11%. Now I just gotta get my GPU client set up on Fahmon correctly. :D

Oh... I refereed to the guide and got it. ;) I'm good to go.

Will the fact that it says notfred2360 is the username screw me over, though??? That's what's bugging the snot out of me.

Well, the power decided to go out of us a few times and it was enough to screw up both F@H processes. I had to scrap what I had gotten done in notfred and start over, but now it has my name and team number on it.

My GPU F@H was a bear, though. Kept saying it was missing a DLL, so I tried to repair it or download the DLL. No luck. I finally decided to run, but it had lost all my info. I went ahead and uninstalled it and re-downloaded it, along with the newest CUDA drivers. Now it is cranking right along. :D

Yha, saddly folding doesn't like power outages.

You can gab the backup script writen by someone here to save your work if you have alot of power issues.

Notfreds harder to backup as its in linux vmware.

Oh and I never worried about the name....
