Security Careers

Hey everyone,
I'm starting to get into security and was wondering what sort of careers I could get with the right certs. I'm currently finishing my BS in IT with a security emphasis and expect to finish it within a year. By that time I would have been an IT Tech at my company for 2 years.

With 2 year IT experience and a degree will I be able to find a security job. Everything I see in security is very high level. Is there a starting job for security?

Oh, a college degree and experience, very nice! Don't find that often. WIth the right certs, you have very much opportunity.

For entry level positions you're looking at Information Security Analyst, IT Security Specialist, and others. You could probably find more just by giving it a Google. The salary isn't bad, though!

I think you'll be able to find a security job, just not a high level one. Security is huge in todays market, you will be very sought after with the experience and degree. I would suggest getting your ccsp.

I agree w the other poster about the potential jobs. Unless you land at a big company with a sepcific security group in IT more than likely you will b in a mixed role. System administrator emphasizing in security.
