salvaging excessively loud dell 8400

got a response from intel. They point towards the power consumption:

That might actually be an issue. I'm sure my Dell 350W psu will be tested to its limits. I wonder if I should even test it w/o getting a new psu since I'll be adding two additional fans (one on the heatsink).

I scanned the other reviews and found a happy customer who said this:

That's the exact same card I have. I'm going give one last look at alternative mobos and then give this plan a go sometime this week. Thanks for everyone's input. I may be back once I actually try to rebuild this thing.
