Currently, I'm using D-Link Router to connect to the internet. I want to connect directly from my modem to my PC. I've tried this several times but, when I connect directly from modem to PC, the internet won't work. It has to go through the router.

Is there any way I can fix this so I can directly connect modem to my PC?

Thanks!

reset your modem.
Then plug it in....
If you still can't connect.
run cmd.exe then grab your ip by using ipconfig /all.
post what it says if you can't access the internet by reseting your modem and machine.

* Note *

Make sure you turn your machine off prior to this fix.
Reset your modem by, unplugging the power to the modem.
Wait about 1 - 2 minutes before plugging the modem back in.
Once you see that your modem's lights are on.
Start your machine.

just get into your command prompt when the modem is connected, and type the following commands:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew all

if this doesn't work, consult your isp, they'll hook you up.

geffin, if I type in those commands, would i still be able to use router if the command does let me use the modem directly?
