Interesting history behind that name...

Actually it was Anakin Starkiller.

Then he decided that Anikin was going to be the dad's name, so he named him Luke. And then realized that Starkiller was a stupid name and changed it to Skywalker.

So in order of revision it goes
Anakin Starkiller
Luke Starkiller
Luke Skywalker

I know this and I hate Star Wars.

Starkiller has been the name of several characters throughout the expanded universe - Bendak Starkiller from KOTOR as an example.
