All I can say is Western Digital Raptors are very fast. If you want to spend the extra money - Go for it.

but for the more affordable alternative, go for the Raptors, they are very fast, but lots of the speed does depend on the other components in your computer, eg. you cant expect to have crazy performance with a raptor if its in a computer with a P3 450Mhz, i know the mobos for the P3 dont support SATA hard drives, its just an example.

My RAID -0 Raptors give me a massive performance increase over my old RAID -0 ATA100 drives.

i bought one when i got my new system on the weekend, and i must say, i can fell a little increase! and i think it was worth getting, i got the 36g i wish i got the 76G now!

just buy another 36 later and work them in raid...what i may do is put all of the programs that i want to run fast on a 36 gig raptor and then all of the basic stuff on a diff hdd...then again i want all of my programs to run fast
