PST location

Has anybody here tried to place users PST file on the network instead of keeping it on the local machine (I am talking about puting it on fileserver or any other dedicated server)
How was the perforamce of outlook ?
Did it slow down your network.

we have at work for mangement users. I've only noticed a preformance hit after a send/receive when the emails are being written to the file

also if the comp loses network connectivity, the user will be prompted to create a new pst or open an existing pst. Which becomes a pain in the ass when they create a new pst and dont tell you and you end up having to import the new pst into the old one and reconfigure the location.
