Depending on the type of format you do, you can usually recover everything easily. If you do a quick format you can be pretty much assured your data is still there waiting to be recovered. Even if you zero the drive once over you can still usually get most/all the stuff.
 
Luckily it was a quick format in this case, waiting to go home so that i can try the software, holding thumbs big time this side.

If it recovers, does it put all back into folders or am i pushing my luck here?
 
Some recovery programs will preserve file structure, can't remember off the top of my head if recuva has that feature though. lemme check...
edit: hmmm, doesn't look like it.
 
Just keep in mind although its a pretty good program, it's a free one that might not recovery everything for you. I've used it several times on clients' computers and there were a few times where it wouldn't find anything.
