Please can a genius tell me how to set the password of a new user account in the windows 2003 server. Windows cannot set the password.

If your computer is not part of a domain, you have to open Computer Management, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.

You should see a folder that says users. Just right click and add new user.

If Win2k3 is part of a domain.

Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
In the console tree, click Users.

Active Directory > Users and Computers >
Domain name > Users

These are the basic ways to manage user accounts.

Hey atilili,

Try running sfc /scannow from the command line.
You will need to have the Windows 2003 Server installation
CD in the CD-ROM drive.

If you just cannot create, modify, or delete anything regarding
a user account or groups you may have a worm, trojan, or
virus. Note (This is usually not the case in Windows 2003 since
the IE explorer settings make it hard to surf the internet.)

Try running these and see if they pick up anything and as
HoLoCroN said post any error messages and check Event Viewer
for any errors also.

Spybot Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/

Ad-aware 6 http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download.asp?fid=7423&fileidx=1

Then run a couple of antivirus programs to see if they discover
anything new.

Norton Antivirus Trial http://nct.symantecstore.com/fulfill/0001.105

Mcafee Virus Scanner http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?WWW_URL=www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/default.asp

Stinger http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

PC-cillin http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/personal.htm

as always update all the definitions and boot into safemode
to fully remove any self replicating viruses.

Good Luck.
