Hey guys, I haven't been around here since my last build over a year and a half ago. I still love this PC, but I figured a great excuse for me to get a new one is to give this to my girlfriend
I plan to overclock again and it looks like the i7's are great for it. The only things I won't need will be:
- Hard drives (I've got a WD 150GB Raptor & 750 + 250 GB HDD's for storage)
- Sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer)
- Keyboard/Mouse/Monitors
- PSU * I'm not actually sure if I'll need one or not. I have a Silverstone 750W, it should be OK but let me know if you think otherwise.
I'm hoping to stay under $1,500; so, here is what I'm thinking so far:
Motherboard:
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 - $269.99
Newegg.com - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Processor:
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz - $279.99
Newegg.com - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
Heatsink:
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme Skt 775 - $56.99
Petra's Tech Shop
Bolt for i7: $9.99
Petra's Tech Shop
Fan $9.99
Scythe "ULTRA KAZE" 120mm
Newegg.com - Scythe DFS123812-3000 "ULTRA KAZE" 120 x 38 mm Case Fan - Case Fans
Video Card:
EVGA GTX285 - $349.99
Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1180-AR GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
RAM:
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB - $166.00
Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Total: $1,142.94
I'm open to suggestions on a good case that is sleek and will keep all of this fairly cool. I'd like it to be quiet, but quiet and cooling don't tend to mix. I know it's a personal choice but I'd still appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks for your help guys!
