If the 275 is 240 SP's and is priced at $230 or less then we will have no need for the GTX295..... Heck with the 260+ moving to well under that price we will still have no need for the 295...

If the 295 dropped in price, it wouldn't be too bad. I just can't justify shelling out 500 bucks for a GPU.

according to expreview, the GTX 275 is going to have 240 SPs like the GTX 285

The performance of GTX275 is supposed to between GTX260 and GTX285. There're rumors indicating that GTX275 is an overclocked edition of GTX260, which is untrue.

According to our source, GTX275 features 240 stream processors just as GTX285. Equipped with GDDR3 memory to form 896MB/448bit, GTX275 is coming with core/shader/memory clock of 633/1404/1161MHz.
Considering the default frequencies of 648/1476/1242MHz and memory interface of 512bit found on GTX285, their performance should be very close.

NVIDIA aims to beat HD4890 with GeForce GTX275, but GTX275 will naturally affect the selling of GTX285, so this would be a problem for NVIDIA.

It will also have higher default clock speed and shader speed than GTX 280 according to the article "Fat.Clown" posted.

So, if we assume that 448bit doesn't affect the performance by much, then GTX 275 should be as fast as GTX 280, if not faster.

So then it should either be the GTX282.5 or GTX287.5, depending on if the clock speed is faster or slower than 285?

nvidia name scheme is getting confusing, its like the birth of g92 all over again !! :O the gt faster then a gts, then a new gts faster then a gtx until you hit 1900x1200. now we have a gtx275 possibly faster then a 280. but slower then a 285, and infact the 275 is half a 295! anyone else see the head aches coming. its a bad time to be a noob.

its a bad time to be a noob.

It is a bad time to be buying Nvidia period lol.

Not being mean or anything. But when you buy Nvidia you HAVE to understand their naming schemes before hand. At least ATI is a bit easier to keep track of.

Is it just me, or is the GTX 275 kind of a pointless card? It is outperformed by the GTX 280 and barely outperforms the GTX 260. Wouldn't it be wiser to just oc a GTX 260?

most are speculating its going to be faster then the 280, also once apon a time ati had a naming scheme that was quite confusing aswell :p
