i just installed fedora core 9 and it wont enable my desktop effects. it is detecting my monitor and graphics card perfectly but still i am facing this problem. any suggestions?
thanks in advance......c ya!!

Did you install restricted hardware drivers for your video card?

Did you install the advanced compiz manager?

Note - In Ubuntu, you must install the simple + advanced compiz manager. They both need to be activated/installed in order to work, however, all of your customizing work is done in the advanced manager with key bindings and settings. The simple manager just needs to exist for the thing to work. I wonder if Fedora is like that too.

Don't mean to offend, but did you try rebooting.. for some reason kubuntu wouldn't enable them without me first shutting down and then starting it back up again.

sorry guys.......just got rid of my system......
now i no more can have a linux distro because the pc i use is shared......
goodbye my sweet linux world!!!
:-(

Getting rid of Fedora = *meh*

Getting rid of Ubuntu = *NOOOOOOO ITS THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!!*

I tried Fedora on my PC, I had Ubuntu on it like 2 days later. I thought Fedora was overcomplicated, had a dull and ugly theme with oversized text, and was harder to configure drivers and such.
