Networking problems

I have a router(Linksys, 2.4ghz, 802.11b) and I recently bought a new all-in-one printer, scanner, faxer. I hooked it up to an older machine(XP) via ethernet cable, it's an older system it only has 1 ethernet port. I found out how I could make it a network printer and hooked it up to my router, printer works, however when I went to hook the ethernet cable for the internet back into the old computer something didn't click. When I immediatly plug it in it notices the cable and searches for the router, but it can't find it. Now I can't get the internet onto my old computer.
Any help is greatly appriciated.

when you do an ipconfig what do you get?

When it tries to find itself a new IP it can't, sorry I am quite a novice on computers

delete your printer on the old computer

rerun your network set up wizard

add your network printer to your old computer
