Does anyone know of a simple to use program that will search my LAN and give me a list of the IP addresses currently in use both static and dynamic

It's called a network sniffer

Cain & Abel at oxid.it contains quite a bit of networking stuff like a network sniffer, it's what I use

I have tried download a few different "packet sniffers" without any success in finding my addresses anyone have a link to one they knows will display this info for me

open up a dos prompt and type "net view". This does the same basic thing but without having a cool interface.

It just gives windows computer names, of computers that are visible

Their's LOTS of stuff on my network that Net View will not show.

ethereal is a good program. it has different filters you can apply to the scanning, displaying only certain protocols.
