Hello,
I am Travis Connelly and have been working on a new OS for a while almost two months. I have just been apointed Head Programmer after people have quite. We need more programers to make up for lost time and people.

Type1: Type 1 will be designing the client. This client will work as an OS and run without windows and possably DOS if all works out. The client will be what will load the OS from a remote server and run it as the OS

Type2: Type 2 is to design the server. The server is planned to be just a VPN with a shared drive containing the OS.

Type3: Type 3 will be working with both groups to keep them compatable.

Type4: Type 4 is the board. You will meet online with the head of group 1,2,and 3 and any programmers brought by the heads then talk with the executives

Type5: Executive branch.

REQUIRMENTS

Group1: Knollege of C++ and assembly language from the BIOS and DOS branch. Win32 will not be used you will be designing a new OS.

Group2: Knollege of .net frame work and general networking. MUST BE ABLE TO CREATE A SERVER PROGRAM

Group3: Knollege of both groups to be able to understand not need to program them.

Group4: Must have social skills and helps to know C++ and general computer information

Group5: Will be apointed from another group. NO APPLICATION

How many people are working on this project now?
Has anyone on the team worked on a previous OS?
Do you guys even know how to make an OS?
What platform will the client run on?
What is the purpose of the client?
What do you mean by "load it from a remote server and run it"?
Do you mean install it?
What if a user has no internet connectivity?
Why do you want to create a new OS?
What does "assembly language from the BIOS and DOS branch" mean?
Why is group 2 restricted to the .NET framework?

Currently we are back down to 6 programmers.
Yes we all have some kernel and OS development.
Yes
386
Will use a server on the web hosting the OS without installation
no
users can use a VPN conection to us (in the works)
FUN! BORED! MONEY!
Means able to program BIOS and DOS operstions for DOS and BIOS
Group two is not only restricted to .net we would actualy rather a c++ or assembly language programmers.

While this is a good idea, it is by far too soon :). This theory of personal computing has been developed along time ago.

It is sort of like bringing computing back into the terminal days. Where you just have a dumb terminal connected to the internet and everything is run from the ISP. You have one big super computer at the ISP with everything in parallel, and then you pay for computing time and storage. This eliminates all of the OS/Hardware maintenance and makes the computing experience a lot easier on the user. Although this might happen in the future, we do not have the infrastructure to use this technology (currently).

Is this what you had in mind or am I just crazy?

Why would someone boot into windows/linux/osx, connect to a server, and run a slower OS, that can't even run w32/*nix apps? Who's developing 3rd party software? Who is funding the project?

Microsoft spends 6-7 billion / year for R&D, and their product STILL has major flaws. There are over 100 flavors of Linux, multiple BSD's, some of which have been in development for 20+ years, and STILL can't take a fair share of the personal computing market. What is going to make this work?

Business plan, business plan, business plan...

/end devils advocate :D
