Need Help

I want to hook up my ps2 to my router but the problem is that its 2 floors down and I canÂ’t run any more cat5 cable through my house. The ps2 is in my room with my computer and I want to know if an Ethernet Switch will work? So what I am asking is if I unplug the cat5 cable from my computer and plug it into the switch, then from the switch run the ps2 & computer cat5 cables will it run? On a side note I despise wireless.
