for maya, you would need a video card thats more expensive for gaming, but i would say go with a 7600GT for SURE. as for PSU, make sure its reliable or u'll regret it. and yes go with AMD if buying right now. if u can wait about a month+ then you can get a Conroe.

and what about ATI Graphic Cards?

The system I wrote up above should fit your budget once you take out that HD and PSU. If you're interested, I'd be happy to build it for you.

Again, Nvidia to me is more of a preference, but that one card it great because it runs almost everything flawlessly, it's comparatively not that expensive, and it has a special heatsink that lets it run at a lower temp.
