NAS on server

Hey guys - quick question for you.

At my job, we have an older, decomissioned server that we want to try and use as a NAS, but without using Windows and sharing out the hard drives...for example, maybe have a base image of XP on there, but some sort of software you install that converts the local HDD into a NAS device.

Any help would be appreciated!
