Mono Sound thru Hi-fi

Hi there,

from my headphone output on my PC , my music goes thru one of these

that leads into a 3.5mm cable that splits into the red and white inputs that go straight into my hi-fi amplifier.

I cannot seem to get stereo sound? I assume the problem is with the cable as I can get stereo sound with headphones.

anyhow, could anyone shed some light on the situation? i apologise if i have explained poorly

I should mention I can get stereo sound perfectly thu the Cd player that I also hook up to the same amp.

Make sure both tips of the cable and adapter has two of those black rings. That means its stereo. If even one of them is a single ring, then its mono.
