Hey, I'm new here, and I've got problems that are seriously affecting my game.

I've been using the same microphone/headset for the past couple of months now (with programs like TeamSpeak2 and Ventrilo). And usually my microphone would be soft, so I would go to Start>Control Panel>Sounds,Speech, and Audio Devices>Speech and run the Configure Microphone, which would usually (after a couple tries) adjust my microphone level so people could hear me.
However, recently I've been getting this error when I try it:
The requested task cannot be carried out because the necessary engine could not be created. Please select a different engine and/or a different audio device.
And then the Speech Properties window shows up, and I cannot select "Configure Microphone". Additionally the microphone doesn't pick up any noise. I don't have any other engines or audio devices. I've tried deleting a "corrupted" lexicon file, but nothing happened.

Please help!

I have a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit sound card and am running Windows XP Professional Edition.
