malwarebytes not running

Ok, I have an old Windows XP laptop. It has the 'Antimalware Doctor' virus on it. So I followed the instructions at Remove Antimalware Doctor (Uninstall Guide). I'm am able to disable it with the 'rkill.com'. The next step says to run 'malwarebytes', which I have already installed on that computer. Problem is, its not running. Its in the desktop tray, but when I click it there's no response. Even from a desktop shortcut, no response. The same thing happens when I run 'combofix'. And ideas?

Did you try it in safe mode?

Ok I just tried it in safe mode, but to no avail. MBAM runs in safe mode, and detects viruses. After they're quarantined/deleted, i resume the computer in normal bootup, but the Antimalware doctor is still there.

I would try running HiJackThis and post logs for someone to look over.

You might also try another AV scan with another software and look carefully for an infection in your System Restore files; they may need to be deleted.

You need to run combofix and then post its log

Wow, all I had to do was a system restore, and its fixed. How did I not think of that!? Wow do I feel stupid...

Run it on safe mode or unistall MALWAREBYTES and put another antivirus.
