Making/Editing Videos on my computer?

Ive been wanting for a while to make and edit videos in my computer but I don't know how to connect my T.V to my computer.

Let's say I want to start a fansite for Johnny Depp. I want to make a video of his appearence in the Oscars and upload it to my website.

Do I need to buy some special cable to connect my T.V to my computer? And how do I know if my computer can do that?

You need some type of video capture device. This can be a PCI card or an external 'box' that you connect the output of your video/audio into.

The cables that you need are regular RCA cables and a USB cable to connect the capture box to your computer with.

You will know if your computer can do that if it meets the minimum system requirements of the video capture software that comes with the video capture device.
