making a local computer invisible...

hey everyone!
I would like to know if there is a way I could make one of the computers on my network invisible to the outside world. I am using it as a server for some files that I only want to share on my local network.

Is there a way to do this?

Well, if the computer is turned on, in some way or some how it will always be visible to a determined Cracker. There are things you can do to avoid that, to include the rest of your computers. If you dont have a hardware firewall (router) get one. Use a good software firewall (Norton, Mcaffe, ZoneAlarm). If you are running an actual 'Server' like 2000 or 2003 then turn off the services that you dont need that may be broadcasting packets. If you just have another computer sharing out folders then treat it like the rest.
