Limited to no activity

Hey guys -- I'm talking to you on my folding computer atm. Because my brand new computer I turned on this morning and I get a weird error on my Local Area Connection saying that it had limited or no activity and when I ran /ipconfig all my ip address was started off with 169.*.*.*

but this computer when I connect it to the ethernet cable (havent got a router, I swap cables every once and a while), the internet worked perfectly...suggestions? does it sound more drivers or firewall or something else?

Did you release and renew the ip?

Try powering up the modem, then the computer, when they're connected.

Your folder worked because it was setup already.

Still getting that **** 169.*.*.* IP...And it still says -- Limited to no activity on my LAN icon in the task bar...suggestions?

Did you unplug and turn off eveything? Connect the net cable, power on the modem, then computer?
