Laptop brands-do they matter?

Do they use the same parts? I know they are the same company, but HP is the higher-end of the two brands.

Like i see a lot more Compaq Presarios coming in for service as appose to HP Pavillions

My old Compaq v2000 has the same service manual as a HP dv1000 so I would say they use pretty similar hardware.

+1 for MSI, I have been very impressed by their laptops.

Of course, I consider Sony Vaio to be the best brand/ series of laptops. Hp is not too far behind but often hp will have graphics that aren't that good.
