So I started getting this issue where my computer randomly reboots

irql_not_less_or_equal
stop: 0x0000000A (0x09488E80, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x80515409)

After looking online I heard that often it is caused by the CPU overheating, but I cleaned it and am still getting the same problem.

This started happening after I reformatted my computer (with Windows XP: Home edition - which I then used windows update to get service pack 3)

I also heard that a program called Registry Mechanic can help - but when I download it and try to install it I am told that the file is corrupted (I uninstalled and tried again but same issue) Regestry Mechanic worked fine with the dl and installation on my laptop though.

Been stuck on this for ages... Please help

Computer specs:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU
000 @ 2.13GHz
2.18GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM

P.S. My google chrome keeps crashing as well - not sure if this is related?

EDIT: I should have read stikies before posting - but it doesn't solve my problem
It doesn't say in the blue screen what device is causing it (I just triggered one and checked)
I'm going to check my drivers etc. now, but any extra help would be appreciated

EDIT (again):
So I just got a different error message

irql_not_less_or_equal
stop: 0x0000000A (0xA9392008, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x80523921)

EDIT: I still have the original thermal paste in place

No - but I don't think the issue is caused by the CPU overheating.
I turn my comp on in the morning after a relatively cool night and it still does it
(It always has the error when I try to transfer a file over by USB - the file is about 6 gigs [Eve Online] but it also does it when I'm playing other games or surfing the net.)

I'll give it a shot though
