Intel to offer Free Public WiFi - gigaom.com

Nothing particularly exciting in this announcement.

I went to the DeviceScape website to see if I could find a list of hotspots. There's verbage there stating the network is "massive" and is built of only the best public wifi hotspots but I couldn't find a listing of where those hotspots are so I can't tell if there are any near my location.

My experience with public wifi hotspots has been pretty dismal, most of the time there are none nearby and then when there is something in range, it's so slow it's useless. I've pretty much given up on them. That's why I use my smartphone for internet access virtually everywhere I go and if I need internet access for my laptop, netbook or tablet, I use my phone to create a personal wifi hotspot.

easywifi.com has a map. they dont list devicescape anywhere on the easywifi site. however i found another link saying devicescape is the easywifi network

I can only assume it has to be for island chains for the circles over the ocean, but even at that it's also strange every network has the same diameter.

Cruise ships that were mapped at the time?

I assume the "diameter" they cover is just a generic circle they're showing.
