Im trying to help a friend whith her home network so all of ther's computers have internet accses. There was a DHCP server in the Zyxel 645mp ADSL modem they use,, but it gave the netmask of 255.255.255.252. That only makes it posible to have one computer on the net. I tried to change the settings in the modem but the Zyxel support said I coudnt do it becource is a single user router. I still tried to manully set the ip adresses bu it is only one who can comunicate whit the modem. can anyone help me.

Ask them if you could use that one address for a router, which is a DCHP server, to assign the network its addresses and internet access.
It would be set up this way:
Internet to DSL modem to the router to the computers, and back again.

The Zyxel Prestige 645mp is a modem only, not a router. You're going to need to buy a router to accomplish what you want.

If you want a bit more depth, it cannot assign more than 1 ip because it doesn't have a built in DHCP server or a NAT server. It only has a DHCP client.
