Very cool info thank you,

after trying to install libxml2 i get:

root@fusionx-UB-Alpha:/home/fusionx# apt-get install libxml2
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libxml2 is already the newest version.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
linux-headers-2.6.35-22 linux-headers-2.6.35-22-generic
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 18 not upgraded.

then after ./configure i still get
checking for xml2-config... no
configure: *** XML documentation will not be available because the 'libxml2' development package is missing.
configure: *** Please run the 'configure' script with the '--disable-xmldoc' parameter option
configure: *** or install the 'libxml2' development package.

odd. you had no trouble

Man I'm really not paying attention to details tonight :(. You need to libxml2 development package, so thats 'apt-get install libxml2-dev' or maybe 'apt-get install libxml2-devel' not sure the exact package name, you can use 'apt-cache search package' to search for any package name.

New Issue, where do I go from here LOL... I thought there would be a GUI
Maybe I'm missing where the program is.....

I downloaded the ISO so i may also try and build a VM with it and try it out, it does have a GUI...
But I still think a GUI must be someone for this one...

WAIT I did for get to do the "make"...

Heh, you haven't installed the program yet, you just configured the makefile for your system (which also checked all the dependencies and stuff). Now run 'make' then assuming that is successful run 'make install'

Thanks again for all the help Marc!

I learned a lot from the stuff you told me. I was able to get past some other issues from what you already taught me.

I still am unable to find a GUI after the completed install though? any idea?

I don't know anything about the program, so not really. If you mean you do not know how to run the program, I would start by running 'asterisk' from the terminal. Installed program binaries are kept in /usr/bin, so you could search in there for the right binary to run.

I guess I would have to ask, how do you run it from the terminal, my attempts failed... also I'm not sure what to look for in the /usr/bin I see nothing that says asterisk of anykind..
