also i have one of those crappy built in display adapters on the mobo with like 4mb of memory, and unfortantually i dont have an agp port, just 2 free pci ports. can ne1 help? also on another note, nebody know the model num of my mobo? ive searched everywhere, all i know is that the manufacturer is an asus.

It says you have a Voodoo 3 video card. If thats right that is your problem. That card just ain't cuttin' it. The Voodoo cards were Glide based as opposed to OpenGl and were never very good at D3D anyway (even though I did love my Voodoo5, I could get 100fps on Quake 3 with it).

Anyway, it's time to upgrade the card.

Well it depends if the comp you have has an AGP slot or not. I'm guessing it doesn't. If not I would recommend upgrading the whole PC and if it does for about a 100 bucks you could get a Geforce 6600.

But in looking at the rest of your system specs I would seriously consider upgrading the whole rig. Even if got a better card, the serious lack of system memory will limit you in your game playing ability as 1gb is the bare minimum lately for gaming.

I would recommend a 6600 gt or a 6800 gs, 100 and 150 bucks each. Well my friend gets that message and he has Crossfire x800xl's.

im thinking about upgrading the mobo to somethin better, somethin along the lines of a BioStar M7VIG400 mATX Socket A Motherboard, and Sempron 2200+, 1.50 GHz, 333 MHz FSB, Processor-In-A-Box Bundle, cause its an amd, and its budget wize. im pretty sure my sys will accept it, its got the same back layout, and agp4x with a processor and comes with matching 256mb memory cards(2). the whole setup is runnin $about 150 with built in video(maxed at 2 gig, it has 64mb vid memory) but im thinking about getting a Radeon 9600 Pro Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB DDR(80 bux), if it works else im gettin a Champion GeForce2 MX400 Video Card, 4x AGP, 64MB SDRAM(40 bux) cause i kinda gotta bujet of 200

Yes upgrade anything you can, but DO NOT get an MX440, probably the worst card ever made. Go with the 9600 and if you can find one, see if a 9700 pro fits into your budget, I have one in my other comp and it still plays well at 800x600 for the new games.

hey!

I resent that.. my mx 4000 can play halo fine...(sept with all the shaders and particles off)

not nearly as well as my 6600gt though... (then again... I have yet to get a game that it can't play medium to full settings)
