can any one tell me if i can run a computer tower to a laptop so i can use my laptop as the monitor

Generally, I don't think its possible.

You could network them through a router, or through a crossover cable, and use your laptop's applications to launch files from the PC. If the connection is fast enough, you could also launch apps from the PC, on the laptop.

Also needs a decent connection and all, but even with a subpar connection between the two it would work. It's not the best choice for things such as gaming and video files though.

Would work for managing the computer/viewing text files, possibly browsing the net as well.

normal 100mbit router or switch would do the trick.
gaming would be a no-no, but anything else would be fine.
use it all the time here at home and work.
