Hello
I'm considering on upgrading my system, and rather than buying everything, I'm trying to build off of what I have.
When I bought this mother board, I intended to use it so I can add new upgrades over a 3 year period. I'm at the end of this time frame now so I'm looking to see what I can do.
My current board: GA-MA69VM-S2
I think the best I can do for RAM on this is DDR2 800, possibly this G.Skill at Newegg. I would plan to go to 4Gb total. Currently I have 2gigs of DDR2 666.
My Processor is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ @ 2700MHz, and I'm at a loss as to what processor I should consider, if any. I have a pretty big list to choose from.
I may just want to overclock what I currently have or maybe go with something new? I dunno. This overclocking though is related to another issue.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT currently, and it's been ok. Recently in trying the new Crysis 2 demo, the video card overheats in about 10 min, and crashes. In anticipation to Battlefield 3, or Skyrim later this year, I'm thinking of going with something more powerful, but that has a better cooling option. OR do I look for better cooling options now for my current card? I'm not even sure what is available.
Doing some benchmarking, I seem to have a bottle neck somewhere, I think it's a combination of RAM and possible the video card. With PC-Wizard 2010, my Global Performance is scoring 5.5 out of 7.9
My goal is to get as much as I can out of the life cycle of this board, but I wonder if I'm a bit behind the curve on this one.
I have priced out a nice new everything system for under $600 so there is that option as well.
Any advice would be appreciated!
