Frustrated needs some help please.

I have no sound but my computer says that everything is working normally.
Dell 531 desktop Vista and Realtek HD audio.
Shows whenever I plug or unplug my speakers but nothing seems to work. Desperate for help and noone has replied to me since early this morning.
Please help me.

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling your sound drivers (download the latest version of the driver from the manufacturer)
