1. What is a server?
2. How will I use the server via web application?
3. Are there screenshots of it in use?
4. What are some things I would need a server for?

FTP, File, Print, Web, VPN, DNS, DHCP, Authentification and the list goes on.

LAMP is Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP

Linux is an operating system that is commonly installed on web servers, apache is a "web server" this is a program that handles http requests, MySQL is a database engine, this is used to store and query large volumes of information and PHP is a coding language that could be used to access MySQL database and system funtions etc
