DUal Band routers

I share the internet bandwidth with others in my house. I want to play online but when they are online it causes my game to lag .
Would a dual band router solve this problem if I used the 5ghz channel and they sucked it with the 2.4ghz channel?


Whats this Quality of Service thing people have mentioned?

Using a Dual Band router is not going to solve your problem. Just like you can't set it up so that you use the 5GHz bandwidth and they only use the 2.4GHz. It is either you all use the 5GHz or all use the 2.4GHz. There is no splitting.

Yes Linksys make a dual band one you can use simultaneous ly

That was because that router used dual NIC's that you could independently manage, most MIMO routers are not dual bad despite dual omni directional antennas they only have single NIC's either on a mini pci slot (sadly increasingly rare) OR single nics directly built onto the PCB.
