Hi guy's, my first post here, I hope it's the right place.

A friend got a new tablet, today I tried to connect it to the internet.
In order to do that I had to change her existing hardware configuration.
Originally the setup was as follows:

A dsl modem AR 860E1-B V2 via the provider Versatel (no wifi)
Bridge Modus
- IP Adresse: 192.168.254.254
- Netzmaske: 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway: 62.214.64.169
- Host Name: versatel
- Domain: modem

I now added a US Robotics 8054 Wifi Router to the hardware configuration to get wifi for the tablet

US Robotics 8054 Wifi Router:
- Host Name: usr8053
- IP Adresse: 192.168.254.2
- Netzmaske: 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway:
- Domain: modem

The desktop pc that now connects to the AR 860 via the USR8054 works with an IP in the same range and has internet, but the tablet which has a connection to the wifi network get's a dns fault - Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED)

desktop pc:

- Host Name: usr8053
- IP Adresse: 192.168.254.3
- Netzmaske: 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway: 192.168.254.2
- Domain: modem

What device acts as a dns server for the tablet?
Why dows the PC not have the same problem..... ?
I have not much experience with this modem - wifi router setup

kind regards,
markus

Maybe the tablet doesn't have a correct DNS address or doesn't have one at all so you may need to add one manually through the device's settings. It's weird but it should acquire one automatically. Anyways you can use the following Google DNS addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

There's only one problem though, you would have to also assign a static IP to the tablet's MAC address through the router's settings. You would need to type 192.168.0.1 on the browser URL bar, enter the router's page and if it asks for a username and password type "admin" in both fields. Once you have found the tablet's MAC address go to ARP or MAC & IP binding and assign the MAC to a new IP address 192.168.0.1xx. Where the x can be any number you like as long as the address doesn't conflict with other devices.

Good luck!
