Disappearing XNE Update Issues Explained

There have been a few of threads popping up in forums around the internet complaining about a “disappearing dashboard update” for the Xbox 360 that limits your current hard drive to one specific console. Well, my trusty inside source at Microsoft told me this:

This is a beta release of the next dashboard update. If you had a console that was in the previous (NXE) beta you may gotten the new beta but not all beta testers got this update. You'll remember that with the NXE beta the same limitations were in place, once you update your console, you can't sign in using a different storage device, and if you put that storage device on a console not in the beta, it would be unable to sign in until the update becomes a public release.

The problem shouldn't affect that many people considering the beta update was limited to former beta testers for NXE. Yes, there is the possibility that the update in question (2.0.7363.0) could have been uploaded to one of the various torrent sites but, if that is the case, it is your own fault and its not like you can't use your console. Anyhow, regardless how you got the beta update, your console will be back to normal when the new update is released.
