Hi, Wonder if anyone can help me.

Ages ago I installed a D-Link wireless router so my son could have internet access upstairs. Unfortunately, sometimes it works okay and other times he can't get access.

I have eventally worked out that it could be that the IP address on his PC shows different that the one on mine, I am presuming that is the problem.

How do I sort that out, if that is the problem. Sometimes if he reboots then the IP address will then be the same as mine but then after a while it changes to another one.

Thanks for any help?

Thanks...what ip address do I assign....the one on the router or a digit higher...I did think of this but they way I read it I had to then give information from my ISP...sorry if I sound dumb...this is my first attempt at doing all this and I haven't a clue.

If your default gateway is 192.168.1.1 then you can give him 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254

Example-Default gateway 192.168.2.1
IP address range 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.254

This is with the exception that you have 255.255.255.0 as your subnet mask. Your DNS is provided by your ISP but you can check this information in your router.
