In the hardware forum, I made a post about upgrading my RAM for EQ2, up to 2 gigs. I found the game was using all my original 1 gig, as well as PFing an additional 850 MB. I got the new RAM, the stuttering game play is gone, but it's still PFing 850 MBs, and it's not using all my physical RAM either.
I guess just out of curiousity, I was wondering if someone could explain to me why it does this. I put this under the windows forum, because I notice even just at the desktop (without anything running), task manager lists PFing at 250MB, even at a clean boot.
Can someone explain to me why PFing is necessary at all times, even when you are not using all your physical RAM.
