Connecting XP machine to NT network share

Hi

I've just got a new pc (at work) and I'm trying to get it connected to the network here. The problem I'm having is that it can't see the NT server shares (or the NT server) - I can see another xp machine on the network but not the NT server.

We have another xp machines that can see the NT server fine and I've made sure all the settings are the same as those and workgroup is correct ... just can't figure out why this new computer can't see it

If your using a server, maybe you should check if you should be using domain name instead of a workgroup. have you tried pinging the server?

The server isn't using a domain or ip i think... I can only see it on other machines by the name it is called...

hmmm, what protocols are you running on the server then, same must be on the client. I would think there has to be an IP only way info will data can be routed on the network.
