ok i second guessed myself today and realized that i might be thinking the wrong thing so i wanted to clear it up for myself.

is 1 mbps as in describing download speed, the same as 100kbps or is 1 mbps 1000kbps i need this to be cleared up in my mind.

Definition: One kilobit per second (Kbps) equals 1000 bits per second (bps). Kbps is also written as “kbps” that carries the same meaning. Likewise, one megabit per second (Mbps) equals one million bps and one Gigabit equals one billion bps.

8 bits : 1 byte
1024 bytes: 1 kilobyte
1024 kilobytes: 1 megabyte.
so on and so forth.

bandwidth is usually measured in megaBITS not BYTES. so if you want bits instead of bytes then then multiply by 8 and viceversa for bytes

When you refer to bits you usually capitalize the first letter for example Mbps (Megabits per second). People get it mixed up with megabytes per second which is abbreviated as MBps or KBps, GBps.
