my computer has been fine for almost a 2 years and all the sudden i moved to my new house and it crashes all the time randomly, mostly when playing games. my computer is also kinda loud like its working hard,

Your first problem is obvious, reboot your machine and try to post into bios.
Check the hardware information for your cpu and see what temp is it at.
If your hitting near 70, which I am guessing, change out your grease and upgrade the cpu heatsink fan.

After you do that, give your machine a good defrag and fix any system clutter.
You got some decent parts in there, so you'll be fine once its fixed quickly.

Welcome to Tech-Forums.net. ;)

i am somewhat of a noob to this so what do you mean grease and replace my fan is that expensive? also when i look in my amd control panel i am usually at 70c plus when playing games and my computer is loud

here is a little more info on my crashes.

i got bsod the last one i seen, said memory management already ran memtest no problems. some times the screen just goes black and restarts other times i get bunch of different colors then restarts and it also just plan freezes cant move the mouse courser or anything and have to manually power it down. then it also sometimes wont start up you turn the power on and it quieter then normal. no beep sound that you normally here when it starts up and the screen just sits there black until, i restart it a couple more times. kinda weird i never had any problems though until i moved to my new house and i moved the computer carefully i opened it up nothing seemed to be loose. this problem just started to happen about 2 weeks ago and i have had the computer for over 2 years

is there any local store that i can buy the thermal paste and fan like walmart?

Yes, but you will pay a higher cost at retail store site.
Check with a well know computer company in your area and see if they can do it.
Or you can avoid that hassle and a long line and get this:
Newegg.com - Tuniq TX-2 Cooling Thermal Compound

In order to replace your grease, flip the lever on the heatsink on both sides.
You do not have to pull hard or yank it off, instead twist left and right clock wise until it slides off like butter.
Take a lint free paper towel or cloth with a little dab of rubbing alcohol, and clean off the old paste.
Let it sit for about 5 minutes and do the same for your current heatsink.
Make sure no smears are on both items.

Take your new grease and apply a pea size drops it like this diagram:

. .

Put the heatsink back on it and make sure the levers are snugg, make sure the cpu fan is hooked up right, or your motherboard will beep at you and throw a fit. :D

If you need to, there is a video on youtube and neweggs site that helps with the procedure.
About your vga problem, if it is indeed giving out garbled mess on your monitor consistently it maybe time for a new vga card.

CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Download this and take a screen shot by pressing prt screen button and host it online using a image hosting service.
Lets see whats going on with your vga hardware temps, it will give me a better understanding of whats going on or not .

ok, well i turned my pc on its side and opened it up i found a lot on dust in the heat sink fan, but i could not figure out how to get the fan off so i used a Que tip to get most of it out around the fan blade. I also was wondering if this does not work do you have another ideas what the problem could be i am testing my temps with speedfan and my gpu is around 70-75c while playing games and my cpu is around 50-60c is that normal?

For that graphics card, yes it is normal, also the cpu looks alright for a temp while gaming.

What you need to do for today is clean your case of the dust, use cloth and wipe out in between the heatsink fins and blow out what you can.
You may have to detach it and put some water on it to get the crud out and let it dry out in semi warm area.
I do recommend highly you change out your grease, if you havent changed for 2 years, its about time for some new grease.

Once you have everything cleaned off , you should be back to normal gaming soon.

how do i detach the fan from the heat sink it seem to be stuck there i didn't want tp pull on it to hard i know there is more dust under neath it. also should i check inside the graphics card like dissemble it?

Beginners Guide: How To Install/Remove AMD Socket AM3 CPU and Heatsink - PCSTATS.com
Follow this for the AM3 heatsink, its quite easy to do, as long as you dont pull to hard or yank, it will come easily.
If your headed out to get some grease today, stop by radio shack or even best buy, ask them what is best for grease.
If they offer you artic silver 5, go ahead and get it, remember, online is a little bit cheaper.
In store, you pay their actual prices, which can be shocking at times.
For the vga, dont worry about it until your done working with you cpu.
I recommend you take that to a computer shop and let them reapply the grease if this is your first time managing your own computer. :)

i think i can handle it, but i know how to take the heat sink off, i was just trying to get underneath the fan. it seems to be connected to the heat sink was it designed to come off? that was my question because it is hard to get the dust under the fan itself. also can i use any kind of rubbing alcohol? and would it of to use wd40 on the bearings of the fan? well i am going to get to work on this tomorrow thanks for your help.

Yes to all of your questions, if you looked at the video I posted, you will know how attach and detach the heatsink.
Underneath it is a good cpu made by AMD, my buddy mguire doesnt think amd is special right now, so he would probably tell you otherwise about the 95mm cpu. :D
Yes, you can use alcohol like I said earlier, if you need help post in the general buying guide section or hardware forum.

As long as you take off the heatsink fan safely without damaging the cpu pins you will be fine and your amd cpu will have its remaining warrenty still intact.

Good luck with it and post later on when your done or if you have anymore concerns. ;)
