COD4 wont play in single user mode!

Ok, I have the D2D version of the game and multi user plays just fine!

I try to run single user and it goes away for a tic and then I am back
with a happy blinking cursor!

I have reloaded and also noted, with the multi user running, that I am
using the latest version of the game.

So, what stupid thing am I doing? Please help as I like to practice a
game before I put my feet in the Acid of multi player!

Thank u all for the reply's but none of them seem to address my issue!

FYI: When it does come up in multi player mode, I have tried to use the menu option
to change to single user and I just get the blinking cursor and I am back into WinBloz!
