Yep. I gave the repair console a whirl too. Still a no go for XP. I'm able to access most of my files, just not copy them over. Still, if at all possible, I'd much rather get XP working again.
Well without being able to get the repair going your best bet is to use BartPE or a Linux LiveCD to backup and format/reinstall. There is not going to be anyway to fix this install.
