Boot problems XP - MBR issue - long history -

NTLDR is just a file that point to the NTDETECT file which then points to the boot.ini file. So what is happening is that the NTDETECT file is not being installed.

Check your disk for scratches and all that good stuff. Something is going wrong somewhere.
 
A few things have changed:
I now have a small amount of unallocated space showing on my drive that wasnt showing in disk management now.


Is this space before or after the primary partition? There shouldn't be any space before. If there is any unallocated before the primary partition, there could be junk left over from the previous Ubuntu install. This junk is what could confusing the bios from finding Windows.
