Black spybox appears from task bar?

Hi. I wonder if you can help me . I keep getting this black box popping up from my task bar. I can only describe it as a 3inch wide and 1 inch depth black oblong with a smaller white oblong with a tab at the lefthand end . adjacent to it is an orange/red warning triangle with a black exclamation mark running through it from top to bottom. it has a small white close button with a black cross in top right hand corner. Also the far right of the white oblong is a 1/4 filled orange/red. When ever it pops up it interferes with all other programs that are running. Especially I.E . I have tried to click on it but it does nothing. It pops up as if it were taking a snapshot then disappears back intp the task bar. What is it?, where does it come from? and how on earth can I rid myself of this nuiscance. I took a screenshot of it and here is the pic link.

That looks like a battery meter to me. Are you running a laptop? Have you gone through the sticky topic called Osiris's Spyware Guide?
