I'm wondering if I should consider a so called "better router". My curiosity comes from lagging on Xbox Live while my wife plays those stupid Facebook games on her pc. All I have access to is AT&T DSL & I'm using the given router they supplied. Now I've been told that buying a more "advanced router" could help. Not only am I concerned with lag issues but I also use my pc in which I get sorry load times when browsing the web. I know DSL is not the best service but my speeds are up to 6mbps down and my brother in law has the same service which seems much faster on a different router. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks a million.

better router may improve your speed slightly.
when I upgraded from my old linksys wrt54g to my current Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH my up stream improved by 50 KB/s
down stream improved by .2 MB. but I am on wireless the whole time, don't know if there was an improvement for wired connection.

I normally get around 1mbps up but what you said about setting the priority is exactly what I've been thinking about I'm just not to sure how to do it, I'm sure I could google that & figure it out. Thank you for such a quick reply!

recap

Ok so my next question is should I get a newer, better router or just keep using my same old 2wire from AT&T? Opinions & suggestions will be appreciated!!

Actually you still need your 2 wire, as its also your modem isn't it?

A router only rotes traffic, so the modem is needed to understand the dsl.

If you want proper qos, then yes... How is your gaming when crackbook isnt running?

CRACKBOOK!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
gaming runs fine more often than not when crackbook is not open. So I would still need the 2wire??? I thought all these higher end routers also acted as modems, no???
